Why Add Watermarks to Images?
Watermarks protect your photos from unauthorized use. They identify you as the creator and deter theft. Text watermarks (e.g., your name or ©) are quick to add. Image watermarks (logos) are more professional. Position matters: bottom-right is common; center is more obstructive but harder to crop out.
Watermark Placement
We support center, bottom-right, bottom-left, top-right, top-left. Bottom-right is standard for photos. Use globalAlpha (opacity) to make the watermark visible but not overwhelming. 0.5-0.7 opacity is typical.
How to Add a Watermark Online
Upload your image. Enter watermark text (or upload image for logo watermark). Choose position, font size, color, and opacity. Click add watermark. Download. All processing uses Canvas API—client-side.
Text Watermark Options
Font size auto-scales with image dimensions. Use bold for readability. White text with dark stroke (or vice versa) ensures visibility on any background. We use fillText and strokeText for clarity.
Watermark Best Practices
Keep it subtle: 50-70% opacity. Don't obscure the main subject. Use your name, brand, or © symbol. For portfolios, a small corner watermark works. For stock previews, a centered semi-transparent mark deters misuse.
Avoiding Over-Watermarking
Too many watermarks or 100% opacity looks unprofessional. One well-placed mark is enough. Test on different image types to ensure readability.
Protecting Your Photography
Before sharing online, add a watermark. Social media, client previews, and portfolio sites all benefit. Our tool processes locally—your originals stay private.
Legal Considerations
A watermark supports copyright claims but isn't required for copyright. It's a deterrent and attribution tool. For legal protection, register works with your copyright office.
